Australians have broken relations and ranks with United States and New Zealand over Israel, that’s purely, means that it would most possibly have opposed the resolution of United Nation’s Security Council condemning Israel’s statement over the issues in the West bank and East Jerusalem.
So Israel recalled its ambassador to New Zealand for consultations on this issue after New Zealand has co-sponsored the resolution by demanding that Israel “immediately and entirely cease and stop all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem” and also released their statements as “no legal validity and a flagrant violation under international law”.
According to the leading Israeli Newspaper, Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu has called Foreign Minister of New Zealand, Murray McCully, to warn him in the context of resolution was a totally “declaration of war” against Israel. So after this resolution, Israel’s government asked that they would ahead by constructing thousands of new houses in East Jerusalem.
Israel also said that it has received solid and ‘ironclad’ information that United States had helped in craft of the resolution. So Australia has also released its statement in respect to this issue by asking that “Australia was not a member of UN Security council therefore not eligible to vote on the resolution”, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.
She further asked that “in voting at the UN, the Coalition government has consistently not supported one-sided resolutions targeting Israel”, she wished both countries to refrain and stop from all the steps that damage the prospects for peace and also asked that “resume direct negotiations for a two-state solution as soon as possible”.
So opposition leader of Australian parliament Chris Bowen said that Labor has strong and long support and continued to support over two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Despite of all these oppositions, Israel has strong support of American President Donald trump, he Tweeted his support for Israel by saying “stay strong Israel, January 20th is fast approaching!”.
