Hooghly Imambara

Located in the Hooghly area of West Bengal, on the outskirts of Kolkata, is the Shia mosque that is also called Imambarah known as Hooghly Imambara. Architect Muhammad Mohsin finished the structure in 1861.

There is a big clock tower at the building’s front gate and two stories within. Throughout the mosque, the walls are carved with patterns and verses from the Holy Book. The mosque’s interior is embellished with candles, marble, and hanging lanterns.

The Imambara is most famous for its pair of towers, which stand at a lofty 85 feet in height. Men and women have exclusive use of the two towers.
