Nothing causes more concern than your child not feeling well. Keeping your children’s health may be a top priority for parents, but the truth is that this is not always an easy thing to do. After all, they may be in a daycare or school and you cannot be with them at all times. However, if you make some changes in your home, you can be guaranteed to make a difference. The following are 5 things you can do to keep your children healthy.

Wash Hands

Teach your children the importance of hand-washing, and keep hand-sanitizers readily available for the times that there is no washing facility available. Young children may not understand that when they sneeze they are passing their germs onto others or that they can pick up harmful germs from others simply by touching objects.

By educating them about how germs are spread and then teaching them the proper hand-washing techniques, you can eliminate them from picking up a lot of germs. Improved hand-washing will mean a healthier child.

Healthy Diet

Learn how to sneak vegetables and fruits into your child’s diet. A large number of young children and teens hate vegetables. For a young child, try introducing them to one new vegetable or fruit at a time and cooked in different ways. When they absolutely refuse to eat them, be sneaky. Most children love smoothie. Simply add in some fruits or veggies and you will never have to worry about your child’s nutrition again.

Simply limiting how much time your children play games and watch television and encouraging them to get outside to play can help you to keep your child healthy.

Enough Sleep

Give your child a set bedtime. Between the ages of 1 and 3, your child should be getting between 12 and 14 hours of sleep. This amount decreases as they get older, but even at the age of 16, your child should be getting at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep each day. By giving your children, regardless of their age, a set time for lights out, you are giving your child the gift of better health.

Your Child’s Checkups

Schedule routine checkups with your child’s physician and dentist. Every child over the age of 2 should be seen by their regular pediatrician at least once a year. In between the yearly checkups, you should also take your child in if you are having any concerns about their health. The dentist is another professional that your child will need to see once or twice a year in order to maintain good dental health.
